The PSL rating scale 0–8 explained
The PSL rating scale runs from 0 to 8, and almost everyone you will ever meet lives in a narrow band in the middle. Understanding the scale stops you from over-reacting to a single number: a "5" is not a failing grade, and an "8" is rarer than people pretend. Here is what each tier roughly signals, in plain language.
Why 0 to 8 and not 0 to 10
The PSL community settled on a 0–8 scale partly to keep the top end honest. On a 0–10 scale everyone inflates themselves toward 7s and 8s; compressing the range to 0–8 makes each point mean more and keeps the elite tiers genuinely rare. It also maps loosely onto a bell curve — the bulk of faces sit in the middle, with very few at either extreme. That clustering is the single most important thing to internalise about the scale.
What each band roughly means
Roughly speaking: 0–2 is the lower band where multiple features read as off-harmony at once; 3–4 covers the wide "normie" middle where most ordinary, perfectly likeable faces live; 5–6 is the "chadlite to attractive" zone where good harmony, decent bone structure, and clean skin line up; and 7–8 is the rare top tier — model-adjacent faces with standout structure and near-flawless harmony. The jumps get harder the higher you go, because each point upward demands more features cooperating at once.
Reading your tier without spiralling
A score in the 3–5 range is not a problem to be fixed — it is where the overwhelming majority of attractive, dateable, well-liked people sit. The tiers are a map, not a sentence. Use them to set realistic expectations: if you are a solid 4, the highest-leverage moves are usually grooming, skin, body composition, and photo angles, not chasing a fantasy 8. The scale is most useful as a gentle compass for where small, achievable improvements will actually show up.
Frequently asked questions
- What PSL score is average?
- The genuine average sits around 3 to 4 on the 0–8 scale. That band covers the vast majority of ordinary faces, so landing there is completely normal.
- Is a PSL 5 good?
- Yes. A 5 is solidly above average in PSL terms — it usually means good harmony, reasonable bone structure, and clean skin all lining up. Most people would describe a true 5 as attractive.
- How rare is a PSL 7 or 8?
- Very rare. The 7–8 tier is model-adjacent territory and represents a tiny slice of the population. Most "8s" people self-report online are really good 5s and 6s with great photos.
